Mate of less than 500GT Domestic Trade Voyages

Before anyone could obtain the certificate issued by Marine Department Malaysia, one must attend courses and obtain certificates as proof of competency. No (1) - (5) below show the step by step how to obtain by fulfilling the requirements of COC and apply for endorsement.

1) Certificate of Competency

• Mate of less than 500GT Domestic Trade voyages

2) Certificate of Proficiency

• ROC
• Basic Training

3) Sea time

• 36 month experience as seaman on any rank.

3) Apply for Oral Examination to Marine Department & Passed

4) Apply for Certificate of Competency to Marine Department

Certificate of Competency Issued:

COC Grade:

• Mate of less than 500GT Domestic Trade Voyages

Capacity & Limitation:

• Mate -Less than 500GT Domestic Voyage

5) Apply for Endorsement of Certificate of Competency

Requirement for Endorsement of Certificate

• Holding COC of Mate of less than 500 GT Domestic Trade voyages
• Restricted Operator’s Cert (GMDSS-ROC)
• 12 month Sea Time as Mate Domestic

COC Grade:

• Mate of less than 500GT Domestic Trade Voyages (Endorsement)

Capacity & Limitation:

• Mate -Less than 500GT Domestic Voyage
• Watchkeeping Deck Officer - Less than 500GT Near Coastal Voyage (less than 4 hours duration only)
